Becky Beaupre Gillespie

Becky is a higher ed communicator, published nonfiction author, and former journalist who built her career around complex storytelling. Becky contributes to the CQE by creating and guiding the CQE’s strategic communication efforts to increase national and global awareness of our mission of advancing the science and engineering of quantum information, training the quantum workforce of tomorrow, and driving the local and national quantum economy. A graduate of Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism, Becky began her career in newspapers, working as a special projects reporter at the Chicago Sun-Times, The Detroit News, USA Today, and the Democrat and Chronicle of Rochester, NY. Prior to joining CQE as the director of communications, Becky spent more than eight years in the communications office at the University of Chicago Law School. As the Law School’s director of content, Becky created editorial strategy, produced deep-dive stories, coached writers, developed student writing initiatives, edited the alumni magazine, advised leadership, and more. She is the co-author of Good Enough Is the New Perfect, a nonfiction book about working motherhood that was re-released as a 10th anniversary edition in 2021 by ParkRow Books, an imprint of HarperCollins. As CQE director of communications, she will work to promote and amplify the innovative work being done by members and partners to broad audiences.
