The latest Annual Report from the Chicago Quantum Exchange highlights remarkable expansion and investment in quantum technology in the Illinois-Indiana-Wisconsin region.
The year saw two CQE-led coalitions — NSF Engine: Advancing Quantum Technologies in the Midwest and The Bloch Quantum Tech Hub — receive a combined $1.5 million in federal funding; the historic announcements surrounding the soon-to-be-built Illinois Quantum and Microelectronics Park; and a $1.1 million investment by quantum company EeroQ to expand their Chicago headquarters — a commitment bolstered by state support. EeroQ is the first quantum company in Illinois to receive state funding.
In 2024, the CQE also released new data, including a first-of-its-kind analysis of the quantum job market that showed that the majority of quantum jobs are available to those without a graduate degree, and a Boston Consulting Group analysis projecting 191,000 quantum economy jobs in the Illinois-Wisconsin-Indiana region by 2035.
