Quantum Law Navigator for Companies and Investors

When:
Thursday, May 7, 2026 5:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Where:
Chicago, Illinois
Description:

Quantum technologies are reaching commercial utility and, beginning in the next decade, could reshape how we fight disease, secure our data, run our cities, and defend our country. But this transformative potential also complicates the sector’s interactions with legal frameworks, leading to layers of laws and regulations that can impede stakeholders’ access to global talent, foreign equipment, public funding, and more.

This event, cohosted by the Chicago Quantum Exchange and Barnes & Thornburg, offers an opportunity for quantum startups, established companies, and investors to gain practical insight on navigating IP rights, export controls, foreign investment controls, global talent, trade policy/tariffs, government funding, and more — and join an essential conversation about responsible, secure quantum sector growth. It is part of the Quantum Law Navigator™, a strategic initiative to examine how legal frameworks balance quantum tech sector growth and national security needs.

Confirmed speakers and panelists include:

  • David Awschalom, Liew Family Professor of Quantum Engineering and Physics at UChicago; Senior Scientist at Argonne; Director at the CQE; Co-Founder at Blanqet
  • Pete Berube, Senior Supervisory Intelligence Analyst at the FBI Chicago
